Areas of Practice

Practice Focus

Katarina has a particular focus on first responders (police, fire, paramedics and dispatchers) and their spouses and families, and on survivors of intimate partner violence and sexual abuse. She works with operational stress, PTSD, moral injury, burnout, secondary trauma, grief, and the communication and identity challenges that can come up in first responder households.

How Katarina Works

Katarina's work is collaborative and trauma-focused. She sees each person as a whole human, not a collection of symptoms, and builds care around connection and what that person needs.

She draws on several evidence-based approaches and chooses what fits the person and the problem in front of her.

About Katarina

Katarina has spent more than 15 years working and volunteering in mental health and social services. Today she also works alongside police, responding to mental health calls in the community.

That work gives her a close understanding of what first responders face on the job and what it can ask of the people at home. She helps clients navigate major life transitions, manage stress, make sense of relationship patterns and feel more like themselves again.

Outside of work, Katarina is an avid runner and traveller who enjoys camping with her partner and their dog, and time with the people she loves.
